Biography

Professor at the University of São Paulo, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, Department of Neuroscience and Behavior. Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1984), specializing in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Institute of UFRJ (1986). Earned his doctoral in medicine in the area of ​​Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Germany, Heidelberg University (1993), with a grant from CNPq. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry of UFRJ from 1993 to 1994, with an RD grant from CNPq. Did postdoctoral studies in the area of ​​Alcohol and Drugs in the Central Institute of Mental Health – Mannheim, Germany, from 2000 to 2001, with a FAPESP grant. He is the main researcher and coordinator of the Center for Clinical Research in Psychiatry and Psychopathology, FMRP-USP. Coordinator of PAI-PAD – Program for Integrated Actions for Prevention and Attention to Use of Alcohol and Drugs in the Community – a HC-FMRP-USP program. Committee member of the International Network For Brief Interventions On Alcohol Problems. Coordinator of INEBRIA LATINA Forum and editor of its newsletter (www.inebrialatina.org). Has projects in cooperation with the World Health Organization, with the Pan American Health Organization and international partnerships in the U.S. and Germany. 26 articles, 11 book chapters, 100 abstracts published in congresses. Has projects selected for funding by research agencies FAPESP, CNPq, CAPES and the Ministry of Health. Dr. Erikson is a professor and mentor in the graduate programs of Toxicology FCFRP-USP and Mental Health FMRP-USP, having completed to date mentoring of eight master’s , two post-doctoral and 14 scientific initiation projects, most of them with support from research agencies. Currently guides four doctoral students, three master’s students and three scientific initiation students. He is a member of the editorial board of three magazines and ad-hoc advisor in thirteen national and international scientific journals. Member of the brazilian group in Treatnet II program from UNODC United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime.

Areas of Interest

Childhood and adolescent psychiatry, mental disorders related to alcohol and drugs, fetal alcohol syndrome, alcohol and drugs during pregnancy, models of vulnerability to drug addiction, behavioral toxicology, children of drug addicts, developmental psychopathology, risk factors and psychiatric epidemiology, parental psychopathology and psychiatric problems of pregnancy and puerperium.
