Biography

Dr. Santos has been awarded by CNPq with the grant Productivity in Research – LEVEL II. Graduated in Physics from the University of São Paulo (1965), Master in Sociology from the University of Chicago (1968) and Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of São Paulo (1972). Received the titles of Associate Professor at the Faculty of Public Health of USP (1985) and Professor of Demography in the same Faculty (1992) and is currently professor of the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirao Preto, University of Sao Paulo. He was a member of the advisory committee of CAPES – area of ​​Urban and Regional Planning and Population in 2001-2003 and 2004-2006 triennial evaluations, he is also part of the group of referees of the following publications: Latin American Journal of Nursing (Ribeirao Preto), Journal of Public Health, Brazilian Journal of Epidemiology, Journal of the Brazilian Medical Association, Nursing School Journal (São Paulo) and the Journal of the Brazilian Association for Population Studies (ABEP). Executive Director of the Foundation for Education, Research and Assistance Support (FAEPA) HCFMRP.

Areas of Interest

Dr. Santos has experience in Public Health with emphasis on epidemiology, mainly in the following areas: mortality, quality of life, aging, mental health.
