Biography

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Centro Universitário de Brasília (2005), a master’s degree in Psychology from the Universidade de Brasília (2006) and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain (2012). He developed his postdoctoral studies in the Postgraduate Program in Neurology and Neurosciences of the Department of Neurosciences and Behavior of the Ribeirão Preto Medical School – University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP), researching the effects of ayahuasca on healthy volunteers an in clinical populations (depression, social anxiety) (2014-2018).

He currently performs postdoctoral studies in the Postgraduate Program in Mental Health of the FMRP-USP, researching the effects of ayahuasca on emotional processing and on the endocannabinoid system and the effects of ibogaine in alcoholic patients. He has been developing research activities with the National Institute of Science and Technology – Translational Medicine (CNPq) since 2014, investigating the potential therapeutic use of ayahuasca and cannabidiol (CBD) in neuropsychiatric disorders.

He is a master’s adviser in the Postgraduate Program in Mental Health of the FMRP-USP.

Areas of interest

He has experience in the field of Pharmacology, with emphasis on psychopharmacology, acting mainly on the following subjects: psychoactive drugs, hallucinogens, cannabinoids, serotonin, glutamate, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, substance related disorders, mental health.
